UAE Annual Leave Salary Calculation Guidelines

This leave salary calculator is built by Yomly, one of the leading Payroll software providers in the UAE. The tool allows employees and employers to quickly estimate annual leave entitlements based on UAE Labour Law.

In the UAE, annual leave salary is typically calculated on the employee’s basic pay plus fixed cash allowances (such as housing and transport) when going on leave, and basic salary only when leave is encashed on exit. The calculation is pro-rated according to service duration, with full entitlement usually starting after one year of service.

While every effort has been made to ensure accuracy, please note that this calculator is for informational purposes only. Actual entitlements may vary depending on individual employment contracts, company policies, or updated government regulations. Yomly is not liable for any discrepancies or outcomes arising from the use of this tool. We recommend using it as a guideline to understand entitlements, while final amounts should always be confirmed with HR departments or legal advisors.

Annual leave salary in the UAE is generally calculated based on the employee’s basic salary plus fixed cash allowances (like housing or transport). When an employee goes on leave, they are entitled to full wage for the approved leave days. However, if the employee encashes unused leave upon termination or exit, the calculation is usually based on basic salary only. The daily rate is calculated using a 30-day month formula.

Employees become eligible for annual leave after completing six months of continuous service. Between six months and one year, employees are entitled to two days of leave per month. After completing one year of service, employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave per year, which is accrued proportionally throughout the year.

It depends on the situation:

  • Going on leave: Salary is paid as basic + fixed allowances.
  • Encashment of unused leave at exit: Payment is typically based on basic salary only.
This distinction is in line with UAE Labour Law and common HR practice across organizations in the UAE.

If an employee takes more leave than they have accrued, the employer may treat it as unpaid leave or adjust it against future accruals, depending on company policy. The calculator will show a warning if the requested leave days exceed the estimated balance, but the final decision rests with the employer.

No. This calculator is designed for annual leave salary only. Unpaid leave periods are typically excluded from service calculations, and sick leave has different rules under UAE Labour Law. For accurate results, only regular service days are considered.

No, this calculator is an informational tool only. While it is built in line with UAE Labour Law, actual entitlements may vary based on your employment contract, company policies, or legal updates. For disputes or final amounts, employees should always consult their HR department or seek advice from the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
